Decade of Difference

On December 10, 2004, IAAW declared the Decade of Difference (2005-2015).

The Decade of Difference 2005-2015 calls upon all levels of government to make a concerted effort to allocate resources required to address the quandary of Aboriginal Women and enable them to participate fully in Canadian society without fear or prejudice. The Decade of Difference is aimed at addressing the root causes – poverty, isolation and discrimination – and to do so through awareness, education and action.

This initiative in a very real way represents everything we stand for. We will keep it in the forefront of all our activities and we will develop strategies to raise general awareness and ensure that no one in influence within government, agencies, business or industry can ignore the message and our call for action to address what is in fact a blight on all of Canadian society.
